Personal Development
At Leasowe Primary School we believe that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve.
Our curriculum extends beyond the academic and supports pupils to develop in many diverse aspects of life. We provide our children with many opportunities to prepare them for adult life, become responsible and respectful members of our society and to discover their passions and skills. We provide a rich, inspiring and inclusive curriculum for all pupils to grow emotionally, physically and academically, delivering a planned provision which intertwines PSHE, Relationship and Health Education, SMSC and British Values, alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities. .
LPS Promise Passport
We promise to provide our children with opportunities and experiences that help them to create fond memories of their primary school years, but also prepare them for life beyond LPS. Our LPS Promise Passport is a series of 30 carefully selected activities, and experiences, that we will provide for the children during their time at LPS. The passport will go through school with the children, with a new set of experiences each year.
Each activity has been designed to develop the children’s personal skills, whilst helping to build their general knowledge, develop their character and prepare them for life beyond primary school. Each time the children complete one of the activities or experiences on their passport, they will receive a stamp to record their achievement. When the children leave us, they will have learned so much through our rich and varied curriculum and through the other opportunities they receive. The LPS Promise Passport is an excellent way to celebrate this, and the experiences will give the children plenty of memories to treasure and talk about for years to come.
Please see the Personal Development long term plan below to see what exciting enrichment opportunities we have planned over the year.
Extra-curricular clubs
We run a variety of extra-curricular clubs throughout the year that take place before school, during lunch times and after school. Our School Council regularly ask the children about their interests and these are carefully considered when clubs are set up. Over the year, we are offering:
